MUTUALISM- Between Sea Otter & Kelp Sometimes when whole a kelp forest disappear it's not really the best thing to happen. But why does this happen? It happens because sea urchins will munch down all the kelp making forests disappear. Kelp helps every animal in some way even if its something super small. So you would think the kelp needs somebody to help them, and they do. They have sea otter. How could sea otter help save a whole population of kelp. Actually sea otter love to eat sea urchins. So while they get a tasty meal it is saving kelp's life.
Commensalism- Between Sea Otter & Kelp Sea otters and kelp have a lot of relationships together. Another one of them is when the sea otter sleeps they will wrap their leg around the kelp. The kelp doesn't really care if the sea otter does this because it doesn't harm them in anyway. So the sea otter benefits by not floating away in the middle of the night. PARASITISM- Between Sea Otter & Acanthocephala Sometimes little sea otter get hurt by acanthocephala. What is that even? Well acanthocephala is a tiny worm that will attach to inside of their gut, and basically eat it. This can make the sea otter very sick possibly death. The poor little sea otter gets hurt by a small little worm while on the other hand the worm is benefiting from eating the guts of a sea otter.
